Lahore Fort

Lal Burj

Located in the Shah Jahan Quadrangle of the Lahore Fort, the Lal Burj (Red Pavilion), that is an octagonal, Mughal-era summer tower, that was built during the reigns of Emperors Jahangir and Shah Jahan. This tower is celebrated for its breathtaking interior frescoes, intricate tile mosaics, and historical Mughal Heritage.

Comprising three storeys, the summer pavilion of Lal Burj is adjacent to Diwan-e-Khas and stands in the corner of Shah Jahan’s Quadrangle. The two storeys (not the top most, that was the later Sikh addition) together with the basement chambers are beautiful work of the masons under the reigns of Emperors Jahangir and Shah Jahan. The exterior is beautifully furnished with tile mosaic and filigree work, while the interior is a model of colourful fresco paintings.
