Naag Mandir

The temple, known as Naag Mandir, is a sikh temple located near Shish Mahal (Mirror Palace), was built in Ranjeet Singh’s period by Maharani Chand Kaur, the wife of Mahraja Kharak Singh, the eldest son of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh.

Square in plan and placed on a raised platform, the temple’s interior and exterior walls have been adorned with fresco paintings. It has a cube shape crowned with a ribbed semi watermelon-shaped dome.  Its wooden door is at a significant height and cannot be reached without stairs which were not there before.

The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), in partnership with the Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan (AKCSP), and the US embassy, had worked on preservation of Naag Mandir, and completed it towards the end of 2024.
